Under the Skill India Mission’s Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), the government has trained 69.03 lakh people across India. The data was provided by Minister of State in Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, RK Singh while answering a question in Parliament.
Replying to another question, Singh informed that 9,28,884 and 2,69,054 candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) category were trained under the PMKVY 2016-20, respectively.
Across the country, 33,88,235 candidates have enrolled in short-term training courses of which 14,05,369 got placement. Under Prior Learning initiatives of the ministry, a total of 32,10,783 candidates across India have been enrolled of which 22,52,506 were certified. Further, under the Special Project, 1,68,267 candidates were enrolled and 38,432 got placed.
Among the short-term training courses, Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of enrollment with 5,53,620 candidates. Top five states from where the highest number of candidates registered are Madhya Pradesh with 3,18,554 candidates, Rajasthan and Haryana with 2,89,241 and 2,48,567 candidates, respectively followed by Bihar with 1,97,666. The lowest number of enrollments are from Andaman and Nicobar Islands with 920 candidates of which 443 got certificates and 43 got placed, as per the official data.
A total of Rs 5,034.44 crore has been disbursed under the NSDC, while for CSCM component, Rs 808.96 crore has been disbursed to state governments or SSDMs. Out of this amount, 16.6 per cent and 8.60 per cent has been allocated for SC and ST candidates, respectively.

NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asked auditor CAG to develop technical tools to check fraud in government departments and play a role in making India a 5 trillion economy.
He was addressing a conclave of the Comptroller of Auditor General on transforming audit and assurance in a digital world.
"CAG should look for innovative methods to deal with occupational fraud," he said, adding that the auditor can play a role in improving governance and efficiency.
Modi said the government wants to move to evidence-backed policy making by 2022 and the CAG can play a role by becoming a think tank and focusing on big data analysis.
"Our target is to make evidence-based policy making a part of governance by 2022,"he said, while stressing that India is gearing to become a 5 trillion economy.
He asked the CAG to develop technical tools to root out frauds in departments.
