You simply know some chanting of a pundit. Some mantra he recites, and this is all the Veda; it is a prayer to some god.  ##This is all you must have learnt in history books, but it is not so. History books will never tell you all these details. I will confuse you a little more by mentioning an additional item of these four Vedas.  ##There are auxiliary Vedas which are called Upavedas. Vedas are four, Vedangas are six, and the auxiliary Vedas, called Upavedas, are four.
