Being a Dalit in India now is not like it was earlier, there is a planned attack on Dalits, activist-writer Kancha Ilaiah Shepherd has said.
“Being a Dalit is like being a buffalo in India. Most of the milk to consume comes from the buffaloes, but it is not treated at par or worshipped as a cow. It is the same predicament of Dalits, as they are the most productive. Dalits mean creativity and productivity, but they are not even allowed to enter a temple. They should fight against this in alliance with other backward classes. The most tragic part of a nation of this size, a country with a huge population, is that OBCs don’t have a philosopher of the size of Ambedkar,” he said.
Kancha was in conversation with journalist Gauridasan Nair at the Kerala Literature Festival in Kozhikode on ‘Being a Dalit in India’. Kancha even called upon the lower castes to aim for something big like being the President of the United States rather than fighting in the country for a few acres of land.
“Aim big, the rest won’t be of any use in the long term,” he said.
He even said that Dalits should stop cultivating, constructing roads and cleaning work. "Let the Baniyas and Brahmins do all that. If not, let the nation starve, let it be unclean. Who will bring in Swachh Bharat, if Dalits won’t do cleaning? Look at Kerala, no other people except Dalits are doing road work or hotel work here and hence the society is going towards Brahminism, the workforce comes from outside the state,” he said.
He believes that it’s good that BJP is ruling the country, or else caste wouldn’t have been debated. “Without discussing it, how can it be exposed and not discussing caste is not good for Dalits. The Communists and liberals in the Congress don't allow caste differences to come to the fore. In the name of secularism, they avoid religious discourse ..,” he said.
He continued, “It’s feared that Dalits will destroy the composition of Hinduism. If caste is not discussed, the OBCs or a section of the Shudras will be part of Brahminical culture. Even the English-educated Nairs in Kerala won't question Brahmins.”
Going back to history, “The Sanghas had a voting system, had democracy. But where was democracy in Hinduism?,” he asked.
Commenting on writer-MP Shashi Tharoor’s latest book Why I am a Hindu, Kancha criticised the book for not having a single Shudra character in it. “There is not a single Shudra character in it. Tharoor doesn't know India at all or Indian productive life. How can god operate without catching fish, or doing such jobs which normally the lower caste people do,” he queried.
Incidentally, Kancha is the author of a book titled Why I am Not a Hindu.
He further said, “Even for Communists and liberals, what originated in Europe is their theory, not what originated in India. For all Indian philosophers, it’s like there is no credibility. Then how can a Dalit or an OBC become a philosopher. Eat beef to become a philosopher. Dalit is productivity and philosophy. Even in Kerala, which is not like the rest of the country when it comes to the caste system, there are not many from lower castes. At present, Kerala’s Chief Minister is an Ezhava, an OBC. But he hasn’t projected that whereas Modi has projected his OBC background to become the Prime Minister. Next, a Dalit should become the CM of Kerala,” he said.
He said the BJP is more intelligent in using caste to come to power. “The CPI (M) won’t do it. Tomorrow, let the CPI (M) say that a person from OBC is their PM candidate; they will get 20% OBC vote. If the Left had used the caste theory, they would have come to power by now. Secularism is a status quo, not a transforming force. Why Rahul Gandhi, unlike earlier, now says that he is a Brahmin; to counter the BJP caste politics. Even in RSS, there is a crisis over caste. They haven’t accepted Modi’s OBC theory. There is a conflict between Baniyas and Brahmins in the BJP,” he said.
He said, “Within three years of BJP rule, four lakh crores of wealth has gone to the corporates. That is social smuggling. Adani in a short time has become the richest.”
He added that reservations in the private sector should also be debated during the rein of the BJP. “Congress and others will manipulate it in the name of secularism. The reservation in the government has come to a standstill.”
“I have been saying all over the country, it should be Kerala versus Gujarat. Kerala model is the best model, Gujarat is the worst model. But those who built the Kerala model, the communists, didn't project it. The question today is of mutual engagement. Ambedkar and Marxism together can present a universal pattern, which can lead people. Unless there is a universal pattern, it won't be accepted globally. Buddhism is ancient Marxism,” he concluded.

Interesting anecdote that was once shared by Osho. The story explains the proverb, “When elephants walk through the street, dogs bark.” Whenever an elephant passes through, all the dogs gather and the mere size of elephant hurt their ego badly. To bark and bark till elephant passes the street. Once the elephant departs, they think that happened because of their barking. But what will an elephant do? It ignores the dogs, it pays no attention for it knows that any tussle is senseless. Isn't Elephant wise? Can’t we be wiser by ignoring the random, pseudo intellect and hate monger Kancha Ilaiah?

Kancha seems to me like an insecure individual who always tries to be in the limelight by creating controversies. Shepherd created controversy yet again with his book ‘Samajika Smugglerlu Komatollu’ which means Vyshyas are social smugglers..He defines the concept of “Social Smuggling” as the phenomenon of earning money and not giving back to the society. One flaw in his logic is that all the traders are Vyshyas and vice versa. Does he mean only vyshya traders are smugglers or every vyshya no matter his profession is a smuggler? What about traders from other varnas? What does Kancha Ilaiah mean? It’s very interesting that he praises and looks up to the British who colonised many countries in different continents and did nothing but loot the natives. Vyshyas, the trader community of Hindus, have a long history of doing business with different countries even during the times when Europe was yet to be see huge wealth. He shows his hypocrisy by calling such Vyshyas as smugglers all the while praising the looters i.e. the British as achievers.

Kanchas says Vyshyas are smugglers because they are not producing anything unlike farmers or other artisans. They are only earning by selling others produce and hence they are smugglers. What an ideology? Isn't Ilaiah who doesn't produce anything but offers service as a professor also a smuggler? Does he know how much is the services sector contributing to Indian GDP? Didn't countries that he loves become great by services and by trade?

He seems to have become a serious repeat offender to abuse the freedom of speech. He did it during Godavari Pushkaralu as well back in 2015. He mocked Hindus for taking a dip in the river Godavari when people of other countries don’t do the same in their rivers, be it river Nile or river Thames in London. He displayed his profound ignorance with this very assumption that Hindus in India should do something only if it’s done by the religions in the west.

He expects people to blindly ape the west and looks down upon India’s traditional wear like saree or dhoti terming them “half-naked”. In a programme called ‘Bheem Drum’, he said that singing songs in the name of revolution by “half-naked” people shouldn't be allowed. All the leaders of backward castes shouldn't be half naked like Gandhi, but wear suits like Ambedkar. Henceforth, even women who perform on the stage should wear jeans. They shouldn’t wear saree and blouse as they only gave “half nakedness” to our women.”

Ilaiah has the habit of spreading untruths and distorts and defrauds mythology. In his irrational and a baseless book, "Why I am not a Hindu", Ilaiah accuses that Goddess Saraswati prevented the downtrodden Hindu women from getting educated, while Goddess Lakshmi prevented them from becoming rich. Ilaiah states that Lord Vishnu’s skin colour is due to miscegenation between Kshatriya tribe and Brahmin tribe.He also says that Indra enslaves the downtrodden women, Urvasi, Menaka and Tilottama, for his sexual pleasure. All these are uncorroborated writings which have no evidence in any of the Sanskrit sacred texts of Hindus.

There are two kinds of people in the society, one like Dr B R Ambedkar who stand up against the evils of society and try to fight it with dignity, like Mandha Krishna who fight for the rights of the downtrodden Dalits. Second, like Kancha who makes a mountain out of a hole and live on cheap publicity.

Major Evil :-
Casteism is the major evil afflicting all religious communities in India. This evil must be fought continuously till it disappears from the Indian society. But mere hatred and spewing venom against other communities is not a solution. Kanchas controversial and inflammatory remarks on certain Hindu communities may score some brownies points for him in the western world which wants to break India. They may help him earn lakhs of dollars but how does that help our downtrodden communities?

His constant emphasis on mimicking the west is only an effect of a much bigger cause. He works with USA- based Dalit Freedom Network, an evangelical Christian Organisation founded by Joseph D'souza, who also heads AICC i.e, All India Christian Council. In his book ‘Buffalo Nationalism: A Critique of Spiritual Fascism, KanchaIlaiah blames the then Government of India for denying permission for a meeting of Dalits embracing Buddhism. This event was organised with the help of AICC. How does AICC relate to this event? What is the connection? One wonders what does he stand to gain by involving AICC in these activities? Anything that breaks the Hinduism has his support. He constantly peddles Aryan Invasion Theory that is disproved multiple times. He uses the theory to divide Indians into Aryans and Dravidians. It clearly shows the constant attempt of Break India Forces like Kancha Ilaiah, to move people away from Hinduism even at the cost of colluding with the organizations that receive funds from and based abroad. Kanchas words in his interview to Christian Today, “...I have been asking the Christian world to give our children the Bible and pound so that some health and wealth of Jesus can come to them. Jesus should bring wealth to India also. Please come and give both….” speaks volumes about what he trying to do.

Ours is a secular country. One can follow any religion he likes. But Ilaiah’s target is to destroy Hinduism and the method he employed is to awaken the dormant caste system of the past. He wants every other community to look down upon Dalits so that he can perform his theatrics. The only reason why he supports Buddhism is because B R Ambedkar has chosen Buddhism and so he cannot vilify it. But Ilaiah doesn’t receive kickbacks for converting you to Buddhism and hence the drama.

Kancha finds an opportunity to create controversy in each and every situation. When Shri Ram Nath Kovind was elected as president, he criticized the move and said that Kovind appears a submissive Hindu by accepting all the caste rules including worshipping of cows and his presence in Rashtrapathi Bhavan doesn't make any difference to Dalits.

Recently in TV9 debate,
Kancha grossly insulted Shri Paripoornananda Swamiji Swamiji by repeatedly questioning about who Swamiji,s mother is and if Swamiji is a Pakistani or a Bangladeshi. It goes to show his mindless vitriol against Hindus or Hindu philosophy. He appears to be just a puppet of the west who seems to be trying to break the Hindu society in the name of castes and enslave people to his western masters.
OPINION :-
1. This stupid Kancha Ilaiah agent of west is almost becoming a Jakir Naik the demon venom spitters;
2. This fool discard all the limits of normal human being behaviour, almost a strong case of madness;
3. Wherever he goes he spits venum, but nobody takes notice on his idiotic meaningless excentric talks, poo poo him like ash;
4. John Dayal another agent of west, wonder what place he gets when he took identity of christianity;
5. Dalits are also Hindus, but Dalit politics do not accept, becauase Kancha Ilaiah, John Dayal likes, had illusion of christianity offer respectabilty, they are fools, because Christianity has large number of divisions on various nomenclatures, these stupids just live on abusing Bharatham, and Sanatana Dharmam;
6. Whenever these fools talk stupidity against Sanatana Dharmam, give fit reply and drive these demons out of state;
7. Christians and Muslims take all advatages as a group namely religious minorities, and abuse Nataion's Sanatana Dharmam;
8. Dalits grab a high percentage of reservation, without consideration of any merits, and Kanchas likes abuse Sanatana Dharmam;
9. These bugs live in hatred and intolerance, engage in petty politics of caste as their main business, abuse Nation and Sanatana Dharmam;
10. And these buggers life end wretchedly, no one bother to, fools uplift yourself and do not bother about dalits, they are already well placed now, you are still in garbage, and sewage, listen Gita and mend yourself when old age comes you will be left alone to suffer for your sins of abusing Sanatana Dharmam.

Since independence, Indian economically, socially weaker sections, ( without naming and placing them in caste groups ) of Bharatham, were given reservations to uplift themselves; No need for caste political leaders like Mayavathy, and Self appointed Dalit leaders like Kancha Ilaiah, John Dayal etc; Truely these buggers are uplifting the scetions, but use this to abuse Nation's traditions/Culture, Hindus, Brahmins etc;
12. The Socio-economically weaker sections now needs to stop depending on their political leaders. Instead of running behind these political parties, the community should rather focus on education, employment and empowerment of their youth. The result will be an educated economically strong community after whom all the political parties would run. This is not an easy task; it’s not impossible though. The community must back itself up and stop looking toward political leaders to improve their quality of life.
13. Present BJP Government under PM Modiji work hard to empower them, along with women empowerment, by way of innovative schemes, under a independant minister;
Instead lisetning and depending the so called BUGS, better National Scemes;
14. Majority politicians and Kancha and John likes, exploit these sections, pretend as if their saviours, but not is the TRUTH.
15. KICK THESE BUNCH OF ASS - KEEP AWAY FROM THEM, AND UPLIFT YOURSELF, ENLIGHTEN BY PM MODIJI SCHEMES ...
