GST, demonetisation, the surgical strikes, Balakot air strike, actions against corruption, abrogation of Article 370, banning triple talaq, are examples of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decisive leadership.

Level 5 leadership connotes honesty and integrity, commitment and passion, decision making, accountability. Crucially, such a leader must be a good communicator. Someone who delegates and empowers, and is an inspiring leader. On all these counts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands out.

His honesty and integrity are full and final. For him, national interest is the only interest. This helped him gain widespread acceptability during his 12 years as Gujarat CM: The poorest of the poor are convinced about his honesty and integrity. In five years, there has not been a single charge of corruption against his government. His humane side also came to the fore recently when he was seen consoling ISRO scientists after a last-minute snag in Chandrayaan-2. At Sriharikota, the PM delivered one of the best motivational speeches to the scientists and engineers at ISRO.

After assuming office in 2014, Modi bowed before the steps of Parliament. He followed this up by bowing to the Constitution, before declaring that his government is dedicated to the welfare of the poor, SC/STs, downtrodden and hitherto neglected. He went on to coin the slogan “Sabka saath, sabka vikas”. And this year. he added “sabka vishwas” to it, which explains his intentions.

He thinks differently and acts differently. To motivate the bureaucracy and get their full cooperation, he appointed 10 groups of secretaries to prepare a roadmap for the government in 10 different sectors. Every group gave presentations, and after due diligence, Modi asked them to work speedily towards achieving their respective goals. The following year, he asked them to present the progress made.

Probably, Modi is the first prime minister who has written a book — titled Exam Warriors — to guide and give confidence to students about how to approach examinations and other challenges in life. He has addressed more than 100 million students and parents in two successive years. In his interactions with students, he even referred to PUB-G — clearly the PM is up to date with the latest happenings. This also helps him establish an immediate connect with students and youngsters. Modi has probably been the first Indian politician to realise the potential of social media, and has used it effectively not only to reach out but establish an immediate connect with the youth.

He is a communicator par excellence. He speaks directly to the people, creates a bond, and gives them confidence. People respond to his appeals even if they have to forego gas subsidy or travel concessions.

GST, demonetisation, the surgical strikes, Balakot air strike, actions against corruption, abrogation of Article 370, banning triple talaq, are examples of his decisive leadership.

Some examples of empowerment of the poorer sections include 10 per cent EBC reservation, Ujjwala gas scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas, Ujala scheme for LED bulbs, Mudra, Skill India, Ayushman Bharat, Kisan Samman, pension to unorganised sector labour, remunerative prices to farmers, and 95 million toilets.

GST is a great example of his faith in co-operative federalism. Decisions about every word of the GST law, rules and rates were reached unanimously.

PM Modi is creative and innovative. He understands that only research and innovation will help India enter the big league. Therefore, he started Atal Tinkering Labs in nearly 3,000 schools where robotics, 3D printing and other advanced technologies are made available. Students experiment with these gadgets and come up with exciting ideas. These ideas are mapped in olympiads organised for the purpose. For engineering students, for instance, he promoted “Smart India Hackathon”. He has also established Atal Incubation Centres in various IITs and NITs.

Finally, he also interacts regularly with start-ups and makes it a point to meet youth with innovative ideas.

NOTE : 1. Modi is the man of the moment, he has met India’s need for determined and selfless leadership : 17/09/2019 : Sadhguru : TOI : PMINDIA

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As with individual human beings, nations also go through their own arcs of evolution. Bharat, one of the most ancient of civilisations in the world, is poised at a very crucial phase in its evolution. We are faced with multiple challenges – complex issues of economy, land, soil and water, a burgeoning population, national security. In all this, we are looking at a narrow window of opportunity of some 20-25 years. We are at a juncture – and we have choices. We can act with resoluteness and shift the course of 1.3 billion people, harness the potential of our demographic dividend, invest in raising the quality and consciousness of the people and steer the economy and ecology on the right track. Or, we could let things slide and pass up the opportunity to move an entire generation from one state of existence to another.

Mother India and her people collectively have long been anticipating this opportunity, and this need for resolute action. At this critical juncture, the need of the hour was a committed force that would function as politics beyond self-interest, politics beyond entitlements. There has been a deep longing in India for determined, selfless leadership. Right now, this will of the nation has manifested in the form of Narendra Modi. I believe this is a tipping point: from here on, this change in the dynamics of India’s population, this upsurge of the spirit of a youthful nation, will inevitably go on to create more and more decisive and firm leadership. This new, unswerving course will be set because it has now been set in the heart, mind and consciousness of India.

*At Kevadia earlier today, PM Narendra Modi spent time at the Butterfly Garden.

The Indian ethos, remarkable for its forbearance rather than for its aggression, has always been inclined to allow events to unfold. At this time in our history, this underlying ethos is undergoing a subtle but fundamental shift. India is now moving from acceptance to action, from detachment to active engagement. India has been stirred to responsibility and involvement. While we are being aided by the changing tide, it is the most appropriate time for this nation to be helmed by a leader with an immense sense of commitment and courage.

In doing this, it is of utmost importance that we are multidimensional in our approach to well-being – factoring in the ecological health of our land, building the mental and spiritual strength of the individual, and ensuring no one is left behind. This is particularly important because the strength of India as a nation is just the people. We are not endowed with enormous natural resources, nor are we currently on par with the world in technological advancement. In many ways, our late and disrupted strides towards development and modernity have put us at a severe disadvantage. However, we are a people with a tremendous sanskaric and genetic lineage, marked by access to intrinsic intelligence and a certain mental fortitude and stoicism. Our only way to success is to tap this inherent potential of our population. For this to happen we need to do everything to enhance the life and well-being of the individual – because without building great human beings there is no great nation.

*The Prime Minister at the Control Room of the Sardar Sarovar Dam.

It has been one of the most heartening aspects of Modi’s leadership that he has brought into mainstream focus several issues pertaining to the common man’s quality of life, which had been neglected as ‘pedestrian concerns’. Basic matters like cleanliness, sanitation, fitness, access to drinking water, electricity, household gas, banking access, communication and digital competence, are now being addressed as prime issues for the nation. The government may create policy and plan budgets, but true success for India will manifest when each individual citizen stands up to act in his or her own responsibility. The measure of achievement is not just in the ability to frame laws or develop infrastructure. To be able to inspire and move people to act for their own emancipation is the key to the success of a generation. It is in his ability to exhort and support the individual Indian that Modi has excelled. No man is a perfect man, but he is the man of the moment.

In marking his birthday, we are celebrating the fact that a person, who was born into a most disadvantaged social situation, has today been placed by the people of this nation in the highest elected office of the country. We celebrate the power of democracy and India’s will. May the will of the people of this great land manifest its true destiny.

NOTE : 2. The dam for which Modi had fasted, will now worship him on his birthday : 17/09/2019 : Gopi Ghaghar :

*On 69th birthday, PM Modi visits mother to seek blessings

PM Modi will meet his mother Heera Ben on Tuesday morning from 6 to 7 am. At 8 o'clock they will reach Kevadia and take stock of the Narmada dam. At 9.30 PM Modi has a program for Narmada worship.

#For the first time in 56 years, this dam was filled with so much water;

#Sardar Sarovar is the world's second and largest dam in India;

#The first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone in 1961;

#It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2017.

#For the first time in the Sardar Sarovar Dam, its water level is 138.68 meters. On this occasion, on Tuesday, September 17, the Gujarat government will celebrate the Namami Devi Narmade Festival across the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also participate in this festival. September 17 is also the birthday of PM Modi.

#PM Modi will meet his mother Heera Ben on Tuesday morning from 6 to 7 am. At 8 o'clock they will reach Kevadia and take stock of the Narmada dam. After this, there is a program of Narmada worship of PM Modi at 9.30. The Prime Minister will also address a public meeting at 11 am.

1. "Dam filled for the first time" :

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated this dam project on 17 September 2017, but due to the shortage of rain, the water level was quite low. But this time due to heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh, the spurt in Narmada river has submerged this dam to its capacity. Now the water level of Sardar Sarovar Dam has reached 138.68 meters.

After the dam was completed, the Prime Minister gave the gift to the nation by inaugurating it on the occasion of his birthday. Sardar Sarovar Dam is the largest dam in India and the second largest in the world. The project from this dam will provide electricity and drinking water to four states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

2. Lifeline of Gujarat :

Sardar Sarovar Dam is also known as the lifeline of Gujarat, because the water of Sardar Sarovar is transported through canal to Kutch, the last village of Gujarat. From Sardar Sarovar, water is transported through canal to 131 cities and 9633 villages of Gujarat.

For this, 75000 km network of 457 canals is spread all over Gujarat. After full filling of the dam, water will be available for irrigation of 18 lakh hectares. In the coming two years, supply of drinking water through Sardar Sarovar to Gujarat will also be started.

The MD of Sardar Sarovar Project, Dr. Rajiv Gupta said that this is the first time the water in Sardar Sarovar has reached the historical level of its highest potential. Now 24 hours electricity is being produced in this dam. Currently, 1450 mega votes of electricity is being produced from this dam.

6 lakh cusecs of water in the Sardar Sarovar Dam is coming from the Omkareshwar and Indirasagar reservoirs of Madhya Pradesh. Narmada river is in spate due to heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh. More than 100 villages in Narmada, Bharuch and Vadodara have been alerted.

3. The first PM of the country laid the foundation :

The first Prime Minister of the country, Jawaharlal Nehru, laid the foundation of the Sardar Sarovar Project on 5 April 1961. 56 years had to wait for the completion of this project. It is such a project in the country that lasted the longest and started in 1961 and was completed in 2017.

A total of 30 small and large dams have been constructed on the Narmada River. Sardar Sarovar is one of them. After the commencement of the Sardar Sarovar Project, along with its construction, there was a continuous struggle against it. A large population which was being displaced by this dam came down on protest. Due to all the fears and protests, sometimes the government pulled back and sometimes court intervention took place. Due to this, its work kept getting stuck again and again.

4. More than 190 villages of Madhya Pradesh submerged :

The Narmada River flows mainly in Madhya Pradesh. The flow area of Narmada is 1312 km in Madhya Pradesh and only 160 km in Gujarat. About 85 percent of the total catchment area of the river is in Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, Madhya Pradesh will have to pay the maximum cost of construction of Sardar Sarovar Dam.

More than 190 villages of Dhar, Barwani, including Narmada Valley, have been submerged in water. Since Madhya Pradesh had more losses than this dam, Madhya Pradesh has been given more benefit in power generation. Of the total power generation, Madhya Pradesh gets 57 percent, Maharashtra gets 27 percent and Gujarat gets 18 percent.

5. Obstacles of Sardar Sarovar :

In December 1993, the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment said that the Sardar Sarovar Project did not follow environmental regulations. After this, in January 1994, the project work was stopped due to heavy public opposition. In 1994, the World Bank said in its report that rehabilitation work is not being done properly in the Sardar Sarovar Project.

In November 1995, the Supreme Court gave permission to increase the height of Sardar Sarovar Dam, after which it was raised to 110.64 meters. While being the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi sought to increase its height. In 2006, as Chief Minister, Modi fasted for three days to get this demand. After this, the height of the dam was increased to 121.92 meters. Later its height was increased to 138.68 meters. In 2017, the dam was completely completed.
